Giardini Nascosti

The wonderful hidden gardens of Venice

A walk with our expert to discover Venice and its secret gardens

There are many hidden gardens of Venetian houses and palaces. Walking down the calli you can often glimpse palatial gardens, convent orchards, private gardens adorned with sculptures, pergolas and rose arbours, "philosophical" or  landscaped gardens, each with its own story to tell.

The first stop is perhaps the largest private garden in Venice. Literally nestled between the adjacent houses, it is a typical Italianate garden where, for centuries, the geometric compositions and lush vegetation have created a harmonious interplay with the internal facade of the Palace.

We then move on to a special one-of-its-kind garden overlooking the Grand Canal. In spring every variety of roses burst into riotous bloom all around the statuary gracing the garden and accentuate its scenographic and theatrical quality.

We will conclude our experience by stopping at a bacaro, the typical Venetian wine bar, where, over a glass of wine and a good cicchetto, we will taste a sample of the authentic Venetian spirit.
