Wonder and Fantasy Nature: all the news and information on the 2014 Carnival of Venice

February 21st, 2014

Natura Fantastica will come alive in a few hours!
After a preview last week, the Carnival of Venice 2014 officially takes its start tomorrow at 15:00 with the arrival in San Marco of the 12 beautiful Venetian girls called "le Marie" and will close on March 4 at 16:30 with the crowning of the fairest maid.

Not to be missed is the Flight of the Dove, or the Angel, on Sunday 23 at 12 noon, the flamboyant masquerade balls and finally the Svolo del Leon with the St. Mark's lion flying over San Marco on Sunday, March 4th at 5 pm.

This year's edition will also feature some new additions: this past weekend, the first Venetian "zombie walk" brought out the walking dead in staggering droves along the streets, bridges and squares of Venice.
Yesterday and today it was the turn of Plankton, a spectacular parade of kites in the shape of jellyfish and sea plankton that invaded the skies of Venice, animated by masked performers by means of long carbon rods (up to 6 meter long) .

But the big news is that from February 27, for the first time ever the carnival celebrations will involve the beautiful open spaces of the Arsenale.
The ancient shipyards of the Serenissima have received a new theatrical restyling and are ready to welcome the Carnival masks every night of the "fat" week. Six nights of intricate play of light and water fountains, music and entertainment!

So let the festivities of this crazy but fabulous Carnival start! And why not take advantage of this info to plan a weekend getaway? Contact us to organize your stay or to participate in one of the most exclusive parties in the lagoon city.
