Borgo Rocca Sveva, a jewel in the heart of the Verona hills

Sheltered by  the Soave city walls lies Borgo Rocca Sveva, a wine cellar carved out of the hill on which the Scaligeri Castle stands.
In this medieval village, which Cantina di Soave has transformed into an innovative centre of wine excellence, the best grapes are aged in the cellars. These are magical and mysterious places, nestling oak barrels and long rows of barriques where the great white and red wines of the Veronese tradition such as Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone are refined.

The winery's exquisite hospitality welcomes us at the entrance to the Venetian-style Villa Giavarina, where we begin our tour among places that speak of an ancient history of tradition and respect for the land. From the underground cellars we move on to the lush botanical park and the green terrace from which we enjoy a breathtaking view of the battlements of the walls and the experimental vineyard. These are the elements that usher us to the climax of our visit: the tasting of the extraordinary range of wines and products of this terroir. An experience that can be fully customised, surrounded by the elegant atmosphere of the villa for a food and wine journey that has been carefully created down to the smallest detail by Borgo Rocca Sveva's chef and sommelier.

In the afternoon, what better way to end our visit than to get lost among the alleyways of the Soave citadel, dotted with small shops displaying local handicrafts? Or soaking up nature at a slow pace, among the hills of Soave Classico on a horseback ride?

Borgo Rocca Sveva is a gem of love for the winemaking tradition, born of the desire to elevate the products of its land to international excellence with modernity and wisdom. We are proud and excited to take our WineRoads to the discovery of this jewel in the heart of the Verona hills.
