Murano: A Multifaceted Universe of Techniques and Ideas

Two itineraries focused on the different techniques and processes that bear witness to the rare manual skill and unmistakable creativity that have made and will continue to make Murano glass famous worldwide.

The first guided tour will take you inside Ars Cenedese, a furnace that has been consistently creating glassware faithful to tradition yet with a nod to contemporary art since 1946. The next stop will be the workshop of French artist Muriel Balensi who creates micro worlds in glass using lampwork techniques.

In the second tour, Nexa will take you to studio-workshop of Davide Salvadore, famous for his mastery of the sophisticated techniques that make his work so powerful and distinctive, and to the Vianello Murrine workshop to see the fascinating artistic process of composing a murrina millefiori obtained with the mosaic technique, one of the oldest in the history of glassmaking.
