Mondo Novo: optical views and Olafur Eliasson | Vuitton brings the merchant of light to Venice

Opening

Following the dialogue between Tony Oursler and Pompeo Molmenti, the comparison between Bill Viola and Vittore Carpaccio, and the Venetian perspectives by Mariano Fortuny and Jiro Taniguchi, Espace Louis Vuitton presents a new exhibition, Mondo Novo, curated by film critic and collector Carlo Montanaro.

Vuitton returns the enlightened invention of the “mondo novo”, a device considered the ancestor of the film projector, to the general public, and offers a fascinating contemporary take on the optical treasures of the eighteenth century thanks to 'Your Star House', a cutting edge kaleidoscopic installation created by the Danish artist Olafur Eliasson in 2011, the delicate vue d’optique urban landscapes created in the Remondini printing shop, and the box for their viewing, now part of the collections of Museo Correr.

For the vernissage of the exhibition, the third floor of the Store Vuitton in San Marco hosted more than 150 guests including some of the most famous protagonists from the world of art and culture, who never miss an event by the French maison.

As for several years now, Nexa has joined forces with the French maison during the organization of the vernissage, taking care of the reception of guests with the customary aplomb that distinguishes all the Nexa staff and services.
