Espace Louis Vuitton Venice has inaugurated the new exhibition “Fondation Louis Vuitton Building in Paris by Frank Gehry, with the participation of Daniel Buren”
Corporate Event
Since 2013, the Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia has been the place where contemporary art meets the artistic heritage of La Serenissima. Putting traditional and modern art into the same context, the Maison’s exhibition space offers a means of breaking down barriers, re-connecting contemporary art to its roots while at the same time celebrating the vitality of the classical tradition, thanks to the support the Maison brings each year to the restoration of famous Venetian artworks.
From May 27 to November 26 2016, the Espace presents a new exhibition curated by Fondation Louis Vuitton Paris as the first ‘Beyond the Walls’ project in Italy.
This exhibition retraces the story of the 1989 architecture Pritzker Prize winner’s dream of “designing a magnificent vessel for Paris that symbolises France’s profound cultural vocation”, presenting a selection of models, architectural designs and screens projecting the rich artistic programming at Fondation Louis Vuitton.
Espace Louis Vuitton Venice also showcases an original creation by French artist Daniel Buren. The work echoes the artist’s spectacular installation on the 12 sails of the Foundation’s building in Paris. Taking advantage of the glass roof of Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia, Daniel Buren has designed a specific in situ installation for the Venetian exhibition space, entitled “Shattered by the reflections: the colours”.
We are always more than honoured to be part of the team for the organization of the exhibitions that Louis Vuitton has hosted in the Maison’s Venetian exhibition space since 2013.
