Conference
The CREDIT conference is an important annual event for economists from around the world working in the area of financial risk management.
The main objective of the conference is to give an opportunity to academics, researchers and professionals in the world of banking and finance to launch a global discussion on the causes and effects of the recent events that impacted financial markets and the prospects and future research in this field of expertise.
Every year, over 100 economists gather in Venice to participate in the two day conference with specialist seminars and poster sessions culminating in a final round table bringing together representatives of important European Banking Institutions, representatives of the European Central Bank, government Ministers and lecturers from the major universities. This year the round table waschaired by journalist Isabella Bufacchi (Sole24ore deputy editor-in-chief and Frankfurt correspondent).
Special guest of the eighteenth edition was the Nobel Prize in Economics Robert Engle who, on the morning of Thursday, September 26th, addressed the audience in the Sala del Portego of Palazzo Franchetti packed with experts and students.
This year Nexa chose the Ridotto Room at Hotel Monaco & GranCanal as the venue for the gala dinner, an extraordinary dining room totally covered with 18th century stuccoes and frescoes. The governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco, took part in the gala dinner and spoke to the guests on the theme of this year's edition: the risks of climate change.
As a conclusion to the conference, the guests were treated to a private visit to the Querini Stampalia Foundation and, in particular, the exhibition "A Venetian Collection" which displays the treasures of the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia loaned to Foundation through Banca Intesa San Paolo. After the cultural visit,we organized a cocktail in the Carlo Scarpa Garden, one of the most fascinating testimonies of the great Venetian architect.
Nexa, who organized the first edition of the conference in 2002, was once again confirmed as the official partner of GRETA Associates and Ca 'Foscari University Venice starting from the tenth edition in 2011.
